does my camper need prior singing experience?

A Cappella Camp (ACC) is a welcoming, diverse & inclusive environment for any student with a healthy dose of curiosity for the arts, and learning with other like-minded youth. Whether you are a beginner or an exceptional musician, there is something for everyone at our camp!

What does my child need to bring to camp?

Campers are encouraged to bring their own writing utensils and paper, if possible. However, campers will be provided with necessary camp materials and equipment. Campers will need to bring their own linens, clothing, personal items, etc. The camp packing list will be provided to registrants three weeks before camp commences.

what ages do you accept for a cappella camp?

ACC accepts students aged 12 through 19 that are interested in learning about a cappella music. Yes, 12 year old students may now enroll in our summer intensive!

will a cappella camp prepare me for college auditions?

The 2024 ACC experience includes classes in auditioning, healthy voice production, music reading skills, and several other areas. Campers preparing for college and university auditions are encouraged to bring their questions to camp!

What types of musical activities are offered at a cappella camp?

ACC offers a diverse range of musical activities including individual and group instruction, workshops, masterclasses, rehearsals, performances, and more. Participants have the opportunity to explore various a cappella styles of music, including pop, jazz, and gospel.

What non-music specific skills are taught at a cappella camp?

Research studies show that children exposed to music often improve language and cognitive development, and math skills. ACC provides:

  • Mentorship to help develop campers’ social-emotional competency

  • Entrepreneurial skills

  • High levels and advances of creativity

  • Transferable skills to the arts and beyond

  • Structured and safe activities

Are meals provided at a cappella camp?

Yes, meals are provided for participants throughout the duration of camp. Special dietary needs and restrictions can be accommodated with advance notice.

What safety measures are in place at a cappella camp?

The safety and well-being of our participants are our top priorities. We have comprehensive safety protocols in place, including trained staff members, licensed medical personnel on-site, emergency procedures, and adherence to all relevant health guidelines. Additionally, federal background checks are required for all camp staff.

when does registration end?

Registrations must be received by June 15, 2024, so register promptly to reserve your spot in the #AcaCamp24 experience!

what does the registration fee cover?

All classes, workshops, masterclasses, rehearsals, performances, overnight lodging, daily meals and a camp t-shirt are included in the registration fee. The registration fee does not cover camper transportation to and/or from campus.

Are there any scholarships available this year?

Yes, we offer scholarship opportunities to eligible participants. To apply for financial assistance, please access the Scholarship Audition Application Form here.

Where do campers stay during the week of camp?

All campers are housed overnight in safe, single or double occupancy rooms in the University’s air-conditioned, supervised dormitories.
