I’m Reggie Bowens, the founder and director of A Cappella Camp. Today, I'm excited to share an inspiring conversation I had with SamSoul, a talented young musician who has attended our camp since 2020. SamSoul’s journey is a powerful testament to the transformative experience our camp offers.
SamSoul’s Journey into A Cappella
SamSoul’s first encounter with a cappella music began with AcaPop Kids, where he discovered the joy of harmonizing with others. "It was the first time I harmonized with other people," he recalls. This initial experience sparked a passion that would lead him to our camp, eager to explore the depths of a cappella.
Expectations vs. Reality
When SamSoul first signed up for A Cappella Camp, he had high hopes. "I expected to take in new information, meet new people, and become friends with new people," he says. And the camp delivered on all fronts. "I learned a lot being in that camp," SamSoul shares, emphasizing how the camp not only met but exceeded his expectations.
Unforgettable Moments
One of SamSoul’s most cherished memories from A Cappella Camp 2022 is the songwriting masterclass. "A lot of the stuff we talked about in that class I still use now when writing music," he explains. This masterclass didn't just teach techniques – it unlocked creativity and inspired lasting skills.

SamSoul’s favorite part of the camp was the sectional rehearsals. "When we would all get together in our different sections to go over our parts," he reminisces, highlighting the sense of camaraderie and teamwork that defines the camp experience. This is where bonds are formed, and harmonies come to life.

"If it was longer!" SamSoul exclaims when asked what could have made the experience better. This sentiment is shared by many of our campers. The immersive environment of A Cappella Camp leaves you craving more – more learning, more singing, and more connections.

Having attended previous virtual camps, SamSoul found A Cappella Camp 2022 to be a game-changer. "It was better for AcaCamp22 ‘cause this is when we were finally in person instead of virtual," he says. The face-to-face engagement brought a new depth to the experience, making it richer and more impactful.
